Karen Jennings explores Cape history in ‘The Translator’
Karen Jennings has published a new short story, The Translator. The piece explores a translator’s recollection of events involving runaway slaves, a conspiracy, and a mistranslated letter at the Cape of Good Hope in 1760. Jennings, known for her Booker Prize-longlisted novel An Island, continues to draw from historical themes during her residency at Stellenbosch University.
